About the Role

ProNexus is looking for junior to mid-level accounting professionals who can provide support and expertise to support our clients. This role involves assisting with various accounting functions, financial analysis, and reporting tasks to ensure accurate financial records and compliance with regulations. Staff Accountants work under the guidance of Senior Accounting Staff or project leaders to contribute to the successful completion of client engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Accounting Support
    • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger entries.
    • Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing financial statements and reports.
    • Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and standards.
  2. Accounts Payable and Receivable
    • Process accounts payable transactions including invoice verification, coding, and payment processing.
    • Assist in managing accounts receivable activities, such as billing, collections, and customer inquiries.
    • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  3. Financial Analysis and Reporting
    • Prepare financial reports and analysis to support decision-making and management reporting.
    • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to evaluate financial performance.
    • Compile and analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  4. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
    • Support audits and reviews by providing documentation, explanations, and assistance as required.
    • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations affecting the organization.
  5. Process Improvement and Efficiency
    • Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains within accounting operations.
    • Assist in implementing process enhancements, automation initiatives, and best practices.
    • Participate in training and knowledge-sharing activities to improve team effectiveness.
  6. Stakeholder Communications and Collaboration
    • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to gather information and resolve issues.
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, providing updates, status reports, and recommendations as appropriate.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues to support project success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience* in accounting or finance roles preferably in a consulting or professional services environment.
    *Please note that ProNexus welcomes anyone to apply, including those that have 25+ years of experience and are willing to be hands on to perform the scope of work required by a client.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial concepts, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, processes, and methodologies.
  • Experience in a customer service or client facing role, and/or public accounting, consulting or advisory roles is advantageous.

The role of a Staff Accountant requires a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic consulting environment.
