Client: Large Academic Medical Center
Requirement: Interim Management Services
Business Situation:
The client is one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers which form the centerpiece of the client’s health research, teaching, patient care and community outreach missions. The Sr. Financial Analyst was retiring and as such, the client was in need of interim assistance to document all of the current state costing process & procedures to retain this knowledge prior to the retirement. In addition, they needed someone to step in and continue fulfilling the duties of the Sr. Financial Analyst – Decision, Support, until a permanent placement was identified.
ProNexus Solution:
ProNexus was engaged to assess the client’s current system of tools and methodology used to obtain projected financial statements and consolidate them for all twenty company branches that report up through it. ProNexus assigned two consultants to assemble an interrelated series of financial statements within Excel so that each branch could make multi-year projections off of the most recent set of actuals while using an “assumptions” tab to calculate the projections.
ProNexus created an MS Access database that easily accepts and uploads the data from a data-conversion Excel workbook. This database now can provide users with the ability to report on and compare various financial statements across multiple years, scenarios (budget versus projection versus actuals), Company Branches, and Budget Cycles.
The result was an overall system which standardized the client’s approach to a muilt-year, financial statement projections and the reporting thereof. ProNexus provided both a user’s manual, and a technical manual to help the client obtain the various reports they need and maintain the database effectively.
The client was very pleased with the outcome and has successfully taken over all facets of system functionalities.
