Business Situation:
The client is a premier Mortuary and Cemetery serving all faiths, cultures, and religions. The client parted ways with the previous Controller and has not had any success with a satisfactory replacement. The client recognizes that searching for a senior-level finance professional is time-consuming and can impact productivity especially considering other competing requirements of managing the organization. In addition, the client was falling behind on some key tasks requiring immediate attention.
ProNexus Solution:
As a result, ProNexus was engaged to provide Interim Management – Controller services until a suitable Controller was hired. To start, ProNexus performed a high-level assessment of the current Finance and Accounting department to ensure the client was in a position to meet leadership’s future state vision. As a result of the assessment, ProNexus identified opportunities for process improvements, as well as optimizing the use of technology and personnel. This assessment helped meet the needs of the client going forward, including an outline of necessary hiring requirements.
In addition to maintaining the day-to-day productivity for the client, ProNexus implemented controls to get up to date on financials, trusts, audits, and tax returns. ProNexus also established deadlines within the function to get current on past due reporting. Lastly, direct lines of communication were opened between the Finance Staff and Management for better day-to-day operations.
The ProNexus solution allowed the client to 1) improve current state finance & accounting operations, 2) address immediate requirements, 3) provide the client additional time to identify a long-term solution, and 4) mitigate a costly hiring mistake.
Ultimately, the client was very pleased with the services provided and requested the option to buy out our contract and hire the ProNexus Controller.
